The Floating Treatment Wetland (FTW) was inaugurated on World Wetlands Day in Neknampur Lake in Hyderabad to clean and purify the pollution.
Neknampur Lake in Hyderabad is home to hundreds of species of birds, plants, mammals, and reptiles.
FTW is a joint effort of NGO Dhruvansh, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), district administration and other organizations.
The 2,500 sq ft platform has been designed using styrofoam, bamboo, gunny bags, coir etc. and will act as a base around 3000 plants including cattails, bulrush, citronella, hibiscus, fountain grass, flowering herbs, and ashwagandha.
February 2nd is observed as World Wetland Day. The organization chose this day to introduce a “floating island” in Neknampur Lake.
